A charabanc and even a hand-pulled cart are glimpsed. Policemen direct traffic, women exhibit the 'flapper' look, men wear hats or caps. Pearson is listed in fair condition after surgery Saturday night to repair a compound fracture of his lower left ankle. Pearson's family said, "Larry is very sore, but stable." They added that he "came out of surgery OK," but confirmed Pearson will need to undergo additional surgery on his fractured hip at a later time. He also suffered a fractured right wrist in the accident. Pearson is likely to remain in the hospital at least one more day, according to a news release issued Sunday afternoon by Bristol Motor Speedway. Glotzbach is listed in good condition and his family reports that he was "feeling much better" Sunday. The 35-lap event was won Saturday by Rick Wilson, who traded passes with Phil Parsons in the closing laps after a lengthy red-flag delay following the Pearson-Glotzbach incident coming out of Turn 2 with just four laps remaining. note the bending in of the roll cage, considering the saftey equipment the drivers started the race with. some drivers had no gloves, and open face helmets, nobody i had seen was wearing a ...

Bristol Hercules 14 Cylinder Sleeve Valve Radial Engine Run In 1986 the Bristol Freighter ZK-CPT ('Merchant Courier') was flown into Omaka Aerodrome (Blenheim, New Zealand) and retired. The aircraft engines were subsequently run on several occasions, but this has not occurred for over 20 years. Enter Alastair Marshall - ex RNZAF Engine Technician, now commercial pilot, and a piston engine enthusiast. Over the past few months, Al has been working on the two Bristol Hercules engines on the aircraft, with the goal of getting the old girl to come to life once more. On 13th June 2008, Stage 1 of the project was completed - the port engine was successfully run for the first time in over two decades. Well, done that man! We look forward to Stages Two (starboard engine run) and Three (a full aircraft taxi) soon! A successful demonstration of a Bristol Hercules sleeve valve engine (39 litres displacement) recorded for your pleasure. This engine and propeller were bought in England and brought to Sweden to be prepared for ground-running, a job that took these two enthusiasts two years to complete. During this run the fuel consumption averaged at 3 litres/minute and as a special treat for the crowd the Rolls-Royce Meteor made an appearance that day and is included in this video as well. Enjoy!

Johnny Bristol was one of the mainstays of my entire Motorcity project. I recorded ten songs with him, but wrote about fifty, including songs for The Contours, The Monitors, The Satintones, and many many others. I had intended to re-record "Man Up In The Sky" for Barrett Strong, but Barrett wanted way too much money, and Johnny begged to do the song, and it became one of our biggest records. He also recorded his classic song "What Does It Take To Win Your Love" for us, which he had originally written for Junior Walker, and he re-recorded his biggest ever hit for us, "Hang On In There Baby", which I am proud to finally add to the video footage we filmed of him in 1990, when I got him over to England to appear at Great Yarmouth in the autumn of that year, which is when this performance was filmed. Johnny Bristol was a fine singer and songwriter, with his songwriting taking precedence in his early career at the Motown Records imprint. Johnny was later to marry Iris Gordy and become an 'actual' part of the Motown family. He began his career in 1960 as part of the duo of Johnny And Jackie. Johnny met Jackie Beavers during a period of National Service in the US Air Force. The duo recorded the first version of the tune 'Someday We'll Be Together' for Gwen Gordy and Harvey Fuqua's Tri-Phi Imprint. The Supremes' version later reached the National Charts later in the decade in 1969, with Johnny pitching in on background vocal chores. Johnny stayed with Motown for the duration of ...
